Grateful Dead: Giants Stadium 1991 is a concert film capturing the Grateful Dead's complete live performance on June 17, 1991, at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey — the second of two consecutive nights at the venue. The show is one of only two Grateful Dead concerts ever recorded on 48-track analog tape, resulting in exceptional audio fidelity. The film documents a performance widely regarded as a highlight of the band's 1991 Summer Tour and their final decade overall. The first set opens unusually with 'Eyes of the World' — a rare choice for an opener — followed by 'Walkin' Blues,' 'Brown-Eyed Women,' 'When I Paint My Masterpiece,' 'Loose Lucy,' 'Cassidy,' and the rarity 'Might as Well.' The second set features 'Saint of Circumstance,' 'Ship of Fools,' 'Truckin',' 'New Speedway Boogie,' 'Uncle John's Band,' an extended Drums/Space improvisation section, 'China Doll,' a 'Playing in the Band' reprise, and 'Sugar Magnolia.' The encore closes with a cover of The Band's 'The Weight.' The performance includes teases of 'Dark Star' and 'The Other One' woven throughout various songs. The concert film premiered in theaters on August 1, 2019, as part of the annual Grateful Dead 'Meet-Up at the Movies' event — the first such event distributed globally through Trafalgar Releasing. It was also released on physical media (two DVDs or one Blu-ray) as part of a limited-edition box set of 10,000 numbered copies alongside the broader Giants Stadium 1987, 1989, 1991 compilation, which received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package. The audio release of this specific show, titled Saint of Circumstance, was issued separately on September 27, 2019.
