Full plot (spoilers)

Cecil Peachtree, a stuffy, well-educated English schoolteacher, is traveling across the Old West to the frontier town of Fortune, where he has been hired as headmaster of the local schoolhouse. When he misses the last train, he is stranded at a remote station — and matters worsen when outlaw Dooley, a fearsome gunslinger, holds him up and robs him. Rather than accept his losses, Cecil proposes a deal: if Dooley escorts him to Fortune on time, Dooley can collect Cecil's full monthly teacher's stipend waiting for him upon arrival. Cash-strapped and desperate, Dooley reluctantly agrees. The two set off on an arduous overland journey through the Wild West, encountering gunfights, jailbreaks, and saloon confrontations along the way. Through shared hardship and the clash of their radically different worlds — the bookish schoolteacher whose knowledge comes entirely from literature and the rough outlaw who has lived by instinct — they form an unexpected friendship. The film frames their bond as an allegory for the liberating power of education: knowledge, the narrative suggests, transcends social background and sets people free. Note: the film releases September 17–18, 2026; this summary is based entirely on official promotional materials, not the finished film. No detailed scene-by-scene breakdown is publicly available.
