Full plot (spoilers)

Lou (Chloë Grace Moretz) is a Chicago-based aspiring YA novelist who works a day job managing social media for a chip company when her engagement falls apart. After writing heartfelt vows for her friend Tilda's wedding, she discovers she has a genuine talent for articulating romantic sentiment on behalf of others. Word spreads and Lou builds a lucrative side hustle writing wedding vows for couples across Chicago's busy wedding scene. Around the same time, Tilda's cousin Dash (Anthony Ramos), a charming serial dater, begins showing romantic interest in Lou, though she initially brushes him off. Lou is then hired by Olivia (Isabel May), a wealthy woman who needs vows written for her upcoming wedding. When Lou meets Olivia's fiancé, she is blindsided to discover he is Warren (Manny Jacinto), her old college best friend and longtime crush. Lou continues in the job, reconnecting with Warren under the guise of gathering their love story to write the vows, while a jealous bitterness about seeing him with someone else begins to eat at her. A secondary storyline follows Gus (Lukas Gage) navigating his own romantic situation. The film tracks the will-they-won't-they tension between Lou and Warren alongside the slow-burn potential between Lou and Dash, exploring the irony that Lou can fluently write love for other people while remaining unable to honestly navigate her own romantic life. The ending has not been detailed in pre-release coverage; critics note it does not fully resolve either romantic thread in a satisfying way.
