Full plot (spoilers)

Set in an L.A. apartment complex, The Hole follows two deeply lonely neighbors who live mere feet apart but have never spoken. Sybil, an endearing social misfit in her thirties, lives in the downstairs unit; Hugo, equally isolated and awkward, occupies the apartment directly above her. When a plumbing leak necessitates cutting a hole between their two units, the literal opening becomes a figurative crack in their separate worlds. Yearning for human connection, Sybil cannot resist climbing through the hole to secretly observe Hugo — spying on a man she has never met but who she senses shares her profound loneliness. The voyeurism escalates into increasingly unconventional and physically hazardous attempts to make contact, resulting in broken bones and a series of awkward, comedic mishaps. Despite the chaotic and intrusive manner in which their acquaintance begins, Sybil and Hugo gradually move from strangers to something closer — an unlikely friendship that offers both characters a path toward healing. The film is structured around three thematic phases: loneliness, connection, and healing. Detailed third-act specifics are not available from accessible sources; coverage of this small independent release is sparse.
