UECK is a 94-minute documentary portrait of Bob Uecker, the Milwaukee-born icon who transformed a modest career as a backup Major League catcher into a six-decade run as one of America's most beloved sports personalities. Directed by Milwaukee-based filmmakers Michael T. Vollmann and Steve Farr, the film traces the full arc of Uecker's life: his sandlot days growing up in Milwaukee, his time as a journeyman backup catcher in the big leagues, and the unlikely second act that made him a national figure—decades of stand-up comedy, guest appearances and roles in film and television (earning him the nickname 'Mr. Baseball'), and more than fifty years behind the microphone calling Milwaukee Brewers games. Vollmann and Farr began filming with Uecker in 2023, shortly after he was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer, giving the documentary an intimate fly-on-the-wall quality that captures his final years alongside the retrospective sweep of his career. The film includes interviews with family, close friends, and colleagues, weaving personal recollections with archival material to show both the public comedian and the private man. Beneath Uecker's signature self-deprecating wit, the film draws out themes of humility, resilience, and a deep love of the game. Uecker died in January 2025 before the film's release; the documentary premiered at the 2026 Milwaukee Film Festival and opened theatrically in Wisconsin on July 23, 2026.
