After Ever Happy picks up hours after Christian Vance's revelation that he is Hardin Scott's biological father. After a volatile argument with Vance, Hardin gets drunk and breaks into Trish's house, accidentally setting it on fire; Vance steps in and takes responsibility when emergency responders arrive. Tessa and Hardin briefly reconnect in the aftermath, but their fragile reunion is shattered when Tessa returns to their apartment and discovers her father, Richard, dead from an apparent drug overdose.
