Violence Gets Results

high

The central conflict — Joker's virus seizing Gotham's technology — is resolved entirely through physical confrontation: Batman battles Joker in cyberspace while Cyborg short-circuits his mechanized suit, sending him into the sea. No negotiation or non-violent resolution is attempted at any point. The climax is explicitly a fight, Batman's decisive action is combat in the virtual world, and the story frames the heroes' victory through force without questioning it.

About this trope: The central conflict is ultimately resolved through physical force rather than negotiation, diplomacy, or systemic change. Talking fails; fighting works.

Full plot (spoilers)

On Halloween night in Gotham City, Solomon Grundy and Silver Banshee break out of Arkham Asylum and rendezvous with Scarecrow. Meanwhile, video game prodigy Gogo Shoto is kidnapped by Clayface, and the assembled villains steal an advanced artificial intelligence device along with a high-capacity battery from an atomic power plant. These components are delivered to the Joker, who uses the battery to power a devastating computer virus capable of seizing control of all electronic technology across Gotham. The Joker declares himself mayor and appoints his fellow villains as cabinet members, plunging the city into chaos. Batman and his allies — including Green Arrow, The Flash, and Cyborg — work to unravel the plot and discover that the Joker intends to broadcast the virus globally using a Halloween parade held in his own honor. Tracking the villains to an abandoned amusement park pier, the heroes rescue Shoto and retreat to the Batcave. Shoto, using his expertise in virtual systems, gives Batman a device that allows him to enter the AI's virtual world directly. During the parade climax, Batman engages the Joker in a cyberspace battle while his teammates struggle to free Cyborg, who has been taken over by the virus. Cyborg discovers that the Rose Stone — a rare energy-conducting artifact — has been embedded in his arm. On Shoto's advice, Cyborg plants the Rose Stone on the Joker's mechanized suit, causing a catastrophic short circuit. The Joker plunges into the sea, Gotham's technology reboots, and the defeated villains are returned to Arkham Asylum — though the Joker is already scheming his next move.
