The PAW Patrol pups are travelling by ship when they are caught in a mysterious storm and crash-land on an uncharted tropical island teeming with living dinosaurs. On the island they encounter Rex, a paraplegic Bernese Mountain Dog who has been stranded there for years and has become a self-taught expert on all things dinosaur-related. Rex helps orient the team to the island's ecosystem and its endangered prehistoric inhabitants. The pups' arch-rival, Mayor Humdinger of Foggy Bottom, also arrives on the island and immediately sets about reckless mining operations, intent on exploiting the island's natural resources for profit. His destructive digging destabilises the island's geology and inadvertently triggers the eruption of a large dormant volcano, placing every creature on the island in mortal danger. The PAW Patrol, guided by Rex's dino expertise, launches a series of large-scale rescue missions to evacuate the dinosaurs and the island's other inhabitants before the volcano destroys everything. The team must also confront Humdinger directly to stop his exploitation scheme.
