Gomez Addams has spent 25 years mourning the disappearance of his beloved brother Fester, who vanished into the Bermuda Triangle. A scheming loan shark named Abigail Craven and her corrupt lawyer Tully Alford hatch a con: Tully, who is already the Addams family's attorney and deeply in debt to Abigail, will arrange for her son Gordon to impersonate the missing Uncle Fester, infiltrate the mansion, and locate the family's legendary treasure vault. Gordon arrives with Abigail posing as his psychiatrist, claiming she found and treated him after years lost at sea. Gomez, overjoyed at the apparent reunion, welcomes them home. Morticia, however, grows suspicious when 'Fester' cannot recall basic details of his childhood with Gomez. Meanwhile, Gordon begins genuinely bonding with the children — helping Wednesday and Pugsley stage a spectacularly violent school play — and grows increasingly conflicted about the deception. When the conspirators repeatedly fail to crack the vault's deadly booby traps, Tully manipulates a grudge-holding judge into issuing a restraining order that evicts the entire Addams family from their ancestral home. Forced out, Gomez, Morticia, and the children take up residence elsewhere and struggle to adapt, while the criminals occupy the mansion and keep trying to breach the vault. When Gomez and Morticia attempt to return, Morticia is captured and tortured by Abigail. Gomez rallies to rescue her. Gordon, repulsed by his accomplices' cruelty and moved by his genuine affection for the family, turns against Abigail. He channels a mysterious magical force that destroys the villains. In the aftermath it is revealed that Gordon truly is Fester — he had been suffering from amnesia caused by his ordeal in the Bermuda Triangle, and a bolt of lightning restores his memory. The family is fully reunited. Seven months later, at Halloween, the Addamses celebrate together, and Morticia announces she is pregnant.
